The Fort Polk-KNF Oversight Committee met quarterly during FY17 to review and evaluate monitoring results. Committee meetings were held in October 2016 and February, April and July 2017 at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

The Oversight Committee approved a revision to the metric for monitoring Task 2-3.4B, based on the results of a root cause analysis. This metric monitors implementation of outreach efforts by Fort Polk and the KNF to increase public awareness of the Louisiana Pine Snake, a species proposed for listing under the Endangered Species Act.

In addition, based on staff input, the Oversight Committee made the determination to eliminate several metrics under Objective 3-1, Integration of Master Planning, Engineering and Environmental Concerns . The metrics eliminated (Tasks 3-1.4A, 3-1.4B, 3-1.5, and 3-1.6) were intended to monitor energy and water use and lifecycle cost savings for new Army facilities designated as military “major construction” or “major renovations” on Fort Polk. These metrics were eliminated due to redundancies with other Installation reporting requirements and challenges associated with data collection.

The SEMP FY17 Implementation Status Table (previously called the Monitoring and Evaluation Status Summary Table) identifies the SEMP objectives for which monitoring and evaluation protocols were approved and initiated as of the end of FY17. At the close of the fiscal year, monitoring requirements had been approved for all but one (Objective 3-2) of the fourteen SEMP objectives. Monitoring and evaluation is ongoing for all other SEMP objectives. A copy of the metrics and performance targets approved as of the end of FY17 is available here.
