The Fort Polk-KNF Oversight Committee met twice—once in the first quarter and once in the 2nd quarter—during fiscal year (FY) 2012. The third quarter FY 2012 Committee meeting was cancelled due to a gap in contract support for the SEMP. In addition, no Committee meeting was held during the fourth quarter FY 2012 because the meeting schedule was shifted from the third to the first month of each quarter to allow more timely reporting of results. As a result of this schedule change, a Committee meeting was held in October (1st Qtr FY13) rather than in September (4th Qtr FY12), as in past years.
The Oversight Committee approved 4 new SEMP metrics and performance targets under Objective 2-4, Bog Management. The new measures track the following for “high quality” and “at risk” bogs:
The FY 2012 Monitoring and Evaluation Status Summary Table identifies the SEMP objectives for which monitoring and evaluation protocols were implemented as of the end of FY 2012, along with the future years in which monitoring and evaluation for remaining the objectives is expected to begin.
As of the end of FY 2012, monitoring and evaluation was underway for 10 of 14 SEMP objectives, and development of metrics and performance targets had begun for an additional 3 objectives. A copy of the metrics and performance targets approved as of the end of FY 2012 is available here.
